We are currently seeking summer Media Interns.
Nerd Collider is a Q&A site designed to bring a diverse group of nerds to a temporary page to solve a problem. We’ve spent the past year coding an advanced platform for hosting online discussions that has been featured everywhere from
TechCrunch to
Poynter.
We’re looking for media interns to help us break in our platform and spend a summer working at a company colliding journalism and technology.
This is not a paid position—we are a two-person company currently bootstrapping this in a Brooklyn loft. What we can offer is an inside POV into the realities of building a modern journalism company and the opportunity to make a direct impact on the news cycle. You will be working directly with us to help expand the reach of our discussions.
Responsibilities:
Generate prompt ideas for Nerd Collider discussions and do background research to determine the most effective way to angle them
Maintain Nerd Collider’s Tumblr and build up its audience
Identify and contact key people to draw into discussions
Infiltrate communities who would be interested in a Nerd Collider discussion and make them aware of it
Requirements:
Ability to write quickly and well
Extensive experience with Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Reddit, Quora, other social media sites
Visual design skills and familiarity with tools (Photoshop, basic HTML/CSS) a major plus
Education level and location does not matter, we'll be looking at your work.
If you're obsessed with the future of news, we want to hear from you.
Send an email to codyvbrown@gmail.com. Please include samples of your work.
